Iran is the first producer of this product in the world with an annual production of about 14,000 tons of barberry.
South Khorasan province with a 98% share in the harvest is the center of production of this export product of the country that Ghaen, Darmian and Birjand cities have the highest area under cultivation and production.
He announced the beginning of barberry harvest and predicted: this year about 13 thousand and 500 tons of dried barberry will be harvested, the value of which is about 750 billion rials.

This type of Barberry which is also known as Barberry Pofaki is most popular for its color and form. Since it is dried on the tree it gets Puffy. Their Moisture level of Barberry Puffy is between 12-14%. Their rate of moisture affects their perceivable levels. They are mainly from the northeastern provinces of Iran to be exact North Khorasan and Razavi Khorasan in cities such as Birjand.

Keeping condition: Users can keep barberries in refrigerators. If a refrigerator or cool warehouse is not available it should be kept in a room (below 12 Centigrade), which has good air ventilation and it is free of dust.
